Overview

This safari is designed for those who want to share and enjoy their experience with a small group of people in our safari vehicle. The days are few but with a lot of animals viewing in these two parks, Tarangire National Park and the wonderful crater of Ngorongoro. Here you can see all the Big Five animals without going to Serengeti. The tour starts from Arusha but the group vehicle can also pick you up at Karatu or Manyara on the way.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: Budget lodge in Mto wa Mbu / Public Campsite (as preferred)

Morning:

  • Pick up from your Arusha hotel around 8:00 AM.

  • Drive to Tarangire National Park (approx. 2.5 hours).

  • Begin your game drive as you enter the park, exploring the open plains filled with elephants, zebras, giraffes, and wildebeest.

  • Discover Tarangire’s giant baobab trees and the wildlife-rich Tarangire River valley.

Afternoon:

  • Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic site.

  • Afternoon game drive to search for lions, leopards, and diverse birdlife.

  • Drive to Mto wa Mbu or a public campsite for your overnight stay.

Evening:

  • Dinner at the camp or lodge.

  • Overnight rest before your Ngorongoro Crater adventure.


Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

Meals: Breakfast & Lunch

Morning:

  • Early breakfast and depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

  • Descend into the crater for a full game drive in this wildlife-packed ecosystem.

  • Watch for lions, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, and—if lucky—the endangered black rhino.

  • Enjoy the breathtaking landscapes and wildlife close-up in this natural wonder.

Afternoon:

  • Picnic lunch at the Hippo Pool.

  • After the game drive, ascend from the crater and return to Arusha.

  • Drop-off at your hotel or airport in the late afternoon.

Day 1 Drive to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, you will set off from Jevas Hotel for a guided game drive in Tarangire National Park, renowned for its large elephant herds and scenic landscape filled with ancient baobab trees. Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, you'll explore the park’s diverse habitats and have the opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife including buffaloes, lions, kudus, zebras, and gazelles. After an exciting day of wildlife viewing, you'll head to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Ngedere Lodge & Camp.

Day 2  Ngorongoro Crater, half-day game drive, drive to Arusha city / Kilimanjaro Airport
You'll leave the lodge at around 6:00 am and head to the Ngorongoro Crater for your last animal-watching adventure. This crater is not just the biggest bowl-shaped place on Earth, but it's also one of the coolest natural spots in Africa. In this area, you can find lots of animals, like wildebeests, zebras, buffalos, and even giant African elephants. And guess what? There are plenty of meat-eating animals, too, like lions, hyenas, and even sneaky leopards!

This place is also home to many pink flamingos, hippos, and other birds that love the water. After your morning animal-spotting, you'll take a break to eat your lunch near a spot called the Hippo Pool. It's a nice place to have a meal. Then, you'll either go back to your hotel in Arusha or be taken to the airport if you're heading home.
